When you’re deciding if it's safe to visit Holly McHone Jewelers, you need to know the practices we've put into place to keep our employees and customers safe from the COVID-19 virus. Our list of preventive measures will continue to evolve/improve as we learn more.
Our battle cry is: "Don't Get It - Don't Give It"
OUR GUIDING FACTS:
-Most recently we learned from the CDC that the virus in NOT airborne. This is good news because only coughing and sneezing will put the virus into the air.
-Normal breathing is a concern which is why a social distance of 6 ft distance is recommended.
-Symptoms of the virus are fever, dry cough, and shortness of breath.
-The virus can live on different surfaces for a varying period, hours to days depending on the type of surface.
-It has not been disclosed, as far as we know, whether COVID-19 can transfer from a pet’s fur to your hands by petting. For safety, we assume that it can.
STEPS WE'VE TAKEN:
-The CDC and State/Local governments make mitigation recommendations and we will follow them.
-Every employee's temperature is taken daily and monitored for any upward trend.
-Employees or customers who exhibit virus symptoms will be asked to go home and tend to their health until it is safe to return.
-After every customer visit, we disinfect all things touched. This includes door entry bar, counter surfaces, and jewelry touched.
-We cannot disinfect Finn, so sadly we have to ban the petting of Finn until further notice. This may be the hardest thing for our customers to not do! A cheery greeting and a dog treat (we'll provide) will have to do for now.
-We request all transactions be made by credit card or check unless cash is the only option. Money is dirty already and now it is a vehicle for the virus to move from one person/place to another. We assume that every bill is a carrier.
-We keep all our work surfaces sanitized before and/or after use, whichever makes sense for the moment.
-Sadly, we will refrain from giving a hug to our customers. The elbow bump must do until this is over.
-Lastly, we wash our hands thoroughly and often. Washing is especially important before eating, rubbing our eyes, or scratching our nose. If you assume that the virus is already on anything you touch, you quickly learn the best times to wash your hands. This is your best bet to avoid the virus.
We will be open for business as long as it is safe to do so and these practices will remain in effect until a safe vaccine for the virus is created and available. We love our employees and our customers so much and their safety is foremost in our minds.
We will also be offering the option for video chat appointments for any our customers that would prefer to work with us remotely. Please share any thoughts, questions, or concerns with us here.
So as one of our favorite philosophers said, "Remember I'm pullin' for ya -- we're all in this together." - Red Green
